Iqbal was instructed by professional who was being sued by a potential buyer, who claimed that the description of the property was “fraudulent.” Iqbal advised the client and drafted particulars of claim. Iqbal also advised the settlement strategies and the value of proceeding to trial compared to the kind of sum appropriate for settlement.

Approximate Fees: £5,000

Client Feedback:

“I was involved in the sale of a property to a buyer who pulled out of the property transaction, citing misrepresentation of the property details. The buyer then proceeded to bring a court action against me as a result. The amount claimed was less than £10,000 in value, so I didn’t want to engage a solicitor directly due to costs but, equally, I needed both advice on the claimant's prospects of success as well as representation at the court hearing. I therefore contacted Iqbal to secure his services directly and was provided with a clear quotation for the costs of engaging his services, which I was happy to accept.

Following his detailed review of the papers, we had a telephone conference in order to go through the issues in hand and the potential risks of taking the matter to a court hearing. Iqbal's advice was invaluable and easy to understand. He was very clear on the potential outcome of the claim and also highlighted some other risks that I had not considered which could have had a personal impact on professional reputation. He advised on a clear strategy to deal with the case. This I followed, and I am pleased to say that the matter settled at a pre-court hearing mediation.

I can't thank Iqbal enough for providing a helping hand in a stressful situation. His expert advice, clear method of communication and clear command of the issues meant that I was able to resolve the matter expeditiously and contain further costs and expenditure.

It really was an excellent return on investment.”
